With a career spanning more than 30 years, Earl has extensive experience in commercial real estate transactions. Past positions held in the field include working as a title abstractor, serving as the managing partner of a commercial title services company, and serving as counsel to a major title insurer. Earl applies this accumulation of real world knowledge to advise clients on a wide range of issues pertaining to title insurance, and closings. He has conducted closings for national law firms, national offices of title insurers, Fortune 500 companies, and major institutions.
Earl works closely with other members of the firm’s Real Estate Transactions Practice, handling pre-closing and post-closing matters in parallel with other aspects of clients’ deals. He is adept at handling recordation, transfer tax, and other legal issues with implications for closing, and he routinely interacts with court clerks in multiple jurisdictions to resolve closing-related matters before settlement. Earl serves as clients’ go-to resource for any actual and potential issues related to commercial settlements.
Earl is active in the local legal and real estate communities and recently began teaching courses for the Maryland Land Title Association (MLTA). He enjoys giving back and finds it both rewarding and informative to explore complex title-related issues from new perspectives.
